FAQ
Questions,
answered plainly.
Materials, painting, timing, returns, care, and the practical things a buyer should know before choosing a WAIR piece.
What leather does WAIR use?+
WAIR uses different leathers across the collection, selected to suit each silhouette. Check the individual product for its material and finish; not every piece is full-grain.
Where is each WAIR bag designed and made?+
WAIR bags are designed in Bethesda, Maryland, and handmade in small batches in Pakistan. Annem Zaidi paints requested initials and artwork on the completed bags in Bethesda.
How are the bags made?+
The bags are handmade in small batches by artisans in Pakistan. Construction details vary by silhouette; consult the product specifications or ask the studio about a particular piece.
Can I ask about a particular leather or finish?+
Yes. Send the studio the name and colour of the bag you are considering, along with what you would like to know about its material or construction.
Who paints the commissioned bags? What technique?+
Annem Zaidi paints each personalized piece by hand in Bethesda. Initials are painted individually, without stencils, preprinted transfers, or digital printing. Small variations in the brushwork are part of the result.
Can I get a custom design, or only initials?+
Choose one or two hand-painted initials for an additional $69, or three for $89, on an eligible collection bag, or discuss original artwork with Annem. For a new silhouette designed from scratch, explore Bespoke Bags: one bag or a collection for a special event, with optional initials.
How should I look after painted details?+
Treat painted areas gently. Avoid rubbing, solvents, and leather conditioners on the artwork. Follow the care instructions supplied with your piece, and contact the studio with photographs if you notice unusual wear.
What if the painted area gets damaged? Can it be restored?+
Send the studio photographs and your order details. We review each concern individually and will discuss what may be possible for your piece.
How long does a commission take to complete and ship?+
Regular in-stock collection orders dispatch within 3–5 business days. Painted collection work adds about two weeks. Discuss custom artwork or an occasion date with Annem before ordering. Newly designed bespoke bags have timing agreed per project; dispatch estimates do not include time in transit.
What if I don't like the painting once it arrives?+
For collection monograms, we use your checkout details as direction; if anything is unclear, we reach out before painting begins. For custom artwork, we develop the brief together before any paint touches the bag. Completed painted collection commissions are final sale for changes of mind. Contact the studio about a defect or quality concern; each case is reviewed individually.
What is the return policy on commissioned pieces?+
Completed painted collection commissions are final sale for changes of mind. Plain collection pieces follow the standard 30-day return policy. Contact the studio about a defect or quality concern; each case is reviewed individually. Bespoke terms are discussed for each project.
How do I care for my WAIR bag?+
Lift dust with a soft, dry cloth, protect the bag from prolonged moisture and direct sunlight, and follow the care instructions supplied with your piece. Ask the studio before applying conditioner or a treatment, particularly near painted areas.
Does WAIR ship internationally?+
Currently, WAIR ships within the United States only. Collection orders include complimentary U.S. shipping. Bespoke delivery arrangements are discussed for each project. International shipping is not currently available.
