A pair of initials on a collection bag and a new bag designed around your brief begin in different places. At WAIR, Annem Zaidi paints requested initials and original artwork on selected leather pieces. A bespoke commission can also begin with a new silhouette, made from scratch.
Here is how to choose the right path and what to discuss before any work begins.
Initials on a collection bag
Start with the personalization page, then choose an eligible bag. Cove, Sloane, Locket, Keeper and Vessel support the collection monogram. Bridge is offered in plain leather.
A monogram adds +$69 for one or two initials, or +$89 for three to the price of the bag. Choose Atelier, Serif or Script lettering, a Solid, Outlined or Dimensional paint style, and one main pigment from the selected bag’s palette. Annem chooses any accent colours. She draws each letter by hand, then paints it without a stencil. You can compare your choices in the editor, review the saved details in your shopping bag and continue to checkout.
The digital study is an illustration. It helps compare lettering and pigment; it is not a photograph of the finished piece or a placement proof. Because Annem paints by hand, the brushwork and color will vary slightly. Check your letters, style and pigment carefully before ordering.
The Cove and Sloane are two places to begin. Choose the silhouette for how you will carry it, then consider the painted detail.
Original artwork on a WAIR bag
For longer lettering, a different size or an original design, use the custom artwork option on the personalization page. This is a conversation with Annem, rather than a fixed-price addition to checkout.
You can share a bag you have in mind, a short description and reference images. You do not need a finished design. A reference can explain a color, an idea or a direction you would like to discuss.
Annem considers the artwork, the leather surface and the palette. The brief, placement, price and timing are settled together. Do not assume that a fixed number of proofs, revision rounds or a delivery date is included before those details have been discussed.
Personalization is currently available on new WAIR pieces. The studio does not offer this collection service for bags from other brands.
A new silhouette, designed from scratch
For a bag whose design begins with your needs, choose Bespoke Bags. WAIR can make one bag or a collection for a special event, with optional custom initials. The studio is based in Bethesda and welcomes clients across Washington, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia, as well as elsewhere in the United States.
Think about what you want to carry, how you want to wear the bag and what the occasion calls for. A tote, a shoulder or crossbody direction, or an entirely different idea can be a starting point. These are subjects for discussion, not a fixed menu of construction options.
Bespoke pricing, capacity, timing and terms are agreed for each project. Collection monogram prices and the three-initial limit do not define a bespoke brief.
Timing: discuss your occasion before ordering
If the bag is for travel, a wedding, a birthday or another fixed occasion, share that date at the start. A requested date is not a delivery promise. Availability, the design and the work involved affect what the studio can offer.
Check the selected collection product’s current dispatch information. Dispatch is when a parcel leaves the studio; delivery also includes transit. For artwork and bespoke work, confirm the project’s timing directly with Annem. This guide does not set a universal painting or manufacturing schedule.
After the painted piece arrives
Handle the painted area gently. Avoid scrubbing it or applying products that have not been recommended for the finish. Follow the care guide for leather, painted areas and storage, and contact the studio with photographs if you need advice about a particular mark.
Painted collection commissions are final sale once complete. Plain collection pieces follow the standard 30-day return policy; read the returns page before ordering. Bespoke project terms are discussed separately. Collection orders include complimentary U.S. shipping; bespoke delivery arrangements are agreed for the project.
